A Little More About Me
I enjoy baking and cooking at home, where school cookery classes sparked my interest in baking. Throughout the years, I've gained experience and tried out various recipes and techniques in the kitchen. Baking has become a significant part of my life and a hobby that brings me great satisfaction. I love being able to express my creativity through baking and constantly strive to improve my skills.
I am a member of the Guild of Food Writers and the author of two cookbooks, 'The Clandestine Cake Club Cookbook' and 'A Year of Cake'.

To further improve my cooking and baking skills, I completed three online cookery courses in 2021 via the Leiths Cookery School.
- Cooking Essentials - 24 week online course with an online assessment.
- Introduction to Patisserie - 10 week online course
- Basic to Baker - 10 week online course.
Food Blogging Since 2009
I have had a food blog of various names, since 2009, mostly as a hobby. I ran a Secret Tea Room in my own home, serving afternoon teas to strangers in my dining room. Each guest arrived as a stranger and left having made friends. My venture into big time food blogging began when I rebranded from the Clandestine Cake Club to Traditional Home Baking in 2020. Read The History of the Clandestine Cake Club and how I created a movement of over 20k cake lovers and 200 cake clubs around the world, meeting secretly to eat cake.
In early 2022 I sold the Traditional Home Baking website after achieving all the goals I set for myself, I wanted a break and looked for a new set of challenges.
But I missed creating new recipes and sharing them with everyone, so I set up Tasty Bakes Kitchen. I've challenged myself to create more easy recipes that I can share with you, with many using Ancient Grains such as these Wholemeal and Rye Scones containing Rye Flour or this Spelt Shortbread and Chocolate Chip Rock Buns using Spelt or a mix of White Spelt Flour and Plain White flour.
What You Will Find on Tasty Bakes Kitchen.
- Simple, sweet and indulgent easy to follow recipes that I've tested in my own kitchen which I am sure you will enjoy making.
- An email newsletter, where I share all my latest recipes, hints and tips.
- Recipes that are simple to make with no complicated instructions, often old fashioned favourites such as Jam Thumbprint Biscuits and some will be traditional Yorkshire recipes from where I live, such as Traditional Yorkshire Parkin or Yorkshire Tea Loaf.

More About Lynn and Tasty Bakes Kitchen
Originally the blog was called LynnsTastyBakes, but I wanted the website to be less about me and more about the recipes I make and the people I make them for. I spend most of my day in the kitchen making tasty bakes, so it naturally became Tasty Bakes Kitchen.
One of the easiest recipes to make for a new baker are these Melting Moments (Butter Biscuits). They are so easy to prepare and are baked in less than 15 mins.
Some fun recipes to make with children are these Halloween Monster Cookies or these Jam Thumbprint Biscuits. You can also have fun making Jam Thumbprint Biscuits too.
I would start by making this Easy Apple Tart. There is no blind baking or pie tins involved, you simply bring the ingredients together, roll out the pastry onto a baking tray and add fresh fruit such as slices of apple. Then fold up the edges and bake. It's so simple and delicious.
I use an electric fan assisted steam oven to do all my oven baking and grilling. And an Induction hob for general stove top cooking.
